Allegation of Collaborative Campaign Against this Company

We note that the discussion of this safari company has reached a point at which while it is accepted that the first reviewer did indeed go on safari with this company, but that there were last minute accommodation upgrade requests which created confusion with regards to additional payments becoming due, it is now alleged that a concerted campaign of defamation is being conducted against the owner - aspects of which are claimed to be based on fabricated events.

It is our recommendation in order to corroborate the claim of the particular contributor that is alleged not to have gone on safari with this company, that he or she uploads media such as photographs that feature some vehicles that were used on the safari in question.

Where no corroborative media is able to be supplied, while retaining the original reviews we will nonetheless be required to remove the star ratings for the review/s under scrutiny until such time as visual corroboration is forthcoming, and to alert readers to the contested status of such reviews.

Kilimanjaro Reviews exists simultaneously to hold operators to the necessary standard of accountability whereby consumers are afforded the protection of knowing that unprofessional conduct will be brought to light and to public scrutiny; but also to aim to offer tourism business owners the opportunity to defend their livelihoods and those of their staff, or else to achieve reconciliation with consumers with which a misunderstanding has arisen.

In order further to maintain the claims against this company, we therefore ask all reviewers to please consider adding media to their reviews. In the absence of this being supplied, we believe that many readers will concur with the allegation that a concerted collaborative campaign against this business is in progress.

Sincerely,

The KR Team.

Smart Africa Safari gives poor Tanzanian safari experience

We took a five day two night safari trip from Africa Smart Safaris Ltd. Soter Clemence Mutambalik the manager lied to us that there were three Spanish who had joined already and our joining could cost lower. He also said we could pay in credit card. Things went wrong from there, he tricked us to do cash advance from credit card instead of visa payment.

On the next day the driver Salim picked us up on time at 9am. It we have to wait for 1.5 hour for him to get lunchbox, fuel, get another japanese whom Soter tricked into our tour about a holland guy joining, another Egyptian guy who only joined a day tour to Tangarie national park (our first day schedule). We saw Soter and asked him about the Spanish and he lied that they had stomach problem and would join the same night. We were at the gate at 12:30pm and can only stayed in the park for 3.5 hours. The driver was just a driver not a guide. He wanted to end early and just that we pushed him to stay longer and we had half hour more.

Of course the Spanish did not come that night, the cook Mase was slow on cooking and his food was salty. We thought he was new on this freelance job. The next morning we had to wait for an hour from our 8am scheduled start, for a new girl who fell on Soter's trap to join, for the cook slow packing. Later the driver made us wait another half hour to pay for bank-in for park entrance payment (shouldn't it be done before ?). Later the driver was caught and fined for a flat tyre and that took us another half hour.

There are too many things going wrong : the cook does not know how to set up the tent, his food stayed on lousy, the driver was not really familiar with Serengeti and kept asking other drivers around for the animals. He did not have much planning about the areas to go ant we kept around Serenora and can stay on the road without seeing any animals.

We still have Ngorongoro to go tomorrow, wish us luck.... Well one hour and a half late to start. Only staying in the crater for 5 hours to see similar animals as Serengeti while there were other places in the national park to go and the driver was urgent to leave. At one point we wanted to go to the toilet and there was a detour to a picnic place far away but the driver insisted on moving on. We had to ask him again to u- turn to the picnic place.

Don't trust Africa Smart Safaris Ltd and Soter Clemence Mutambalik

A daylight robbery!

I would never recommend anyone to go with this company! It is stealing tourists!

You pay for a professional guide - this is written in the contract - you end up with a driver who is a very well driver but can't guide anyone.

You pay for a safari trip, you end up with dirty stuff, materials - sleeping bags, tents etc. It went ok just thanks to the very good group atmosphere, but it was at all thanks to our driver Mike!! Unfortunately.

You don't expect the driver to be aggressive, you don't expect Mr Soter C. Mutambalike to threaten you. But this is what happened. I'm not a competitor; I'm just a tourist.

Never go with this company; trust your travel guide book.
The Arusha tourist police should absolutely prevent Mr Soter C. Mutambalike from doing business with tourists.

Avoid this 'company"!!!

Our tour operator, Africa Smart Safaris Limited of Arusha, and personally its managing director Mr. Soter C. Mutambalike has cheated and stolen our money. And we write to you with hope to get assistance and to warn possible future tourists to avoid this company.

We signed a contract with Africa Smart Safaris for climbing to Kilimanjaro and three days safari after that.
The climbing went well and there were no problem with it. The problems started afterwards on January 09. For the first night accommodation Africa Smart Safaris reserved only two rooms instead of five, and for the next two nights reserved nothing at all. We had to pay everything for the second time including the entrance fees to Ngorongoro park, which our driver refused to pay. Mr. Soter did not react to our phone calls and text messages. We informed about the situation officer of TANAPA in Serengeti, but he couldnt do anything.

Finally Mr. Soter sent us a message promising to return our money but it looked like just an attempt to delay. By that time we have already read a post in Tripadvisor by US tourists with similar situation, and understood that this is the way Mr.Soter makes money on tourists.

Finally, Africa Smart Safaris should return us approx. $8000 (!!!), which were paid to them for our safari trip.

Never, NEVER have deal with these thieves...
